Celebrate - "camp Joy Sunday"

Please join us on Sunday, June 2nd at 10:45 am for a service highlighting and celebrating the ministry of Camp Joy!  Camp Joy was established in 1946 and for many years offered camp free of charge for children ages 5-13.  Many people in the Chattanooga Valley and surrounding communities grew up going to Camp Joy.  Thousands made professions of faith and were baptized while here at Camp!  It was subtitled by Dr. Lee Roberson "Where boys and girls begin to live!"  It was true!  So many gave their hearts and lives to the Lord Jesus at Camp Joy!

We will have dinner on the grounds following the service.  Please bring a dessert to share.  The rest of the meal will be provided.  We will have fun inflatables, lawn games, sno-cones and popcorn for kids of all ages!  Come join us and bring a friend!

History:  Camp Joy began in 1946.  Dr. Lee Roberson, the pastor of the Highland Park Baptist Church purchased 66 acres in Harrison, TN at a government auction.  The Camp was named after his baby daughter, Joy, who had died of crib death.  Dr. Roberson called Camp Joy "The Place Where Boys and Girls Begin to Live".  Ten weeks of summer camp was held each summer from 1946  until a tornado destroyed much of the camp campus in the Spring of 2013.  Over the years thousands of campers came from the tri-state area each summer, free of charge, for one week of camp.  The camp would alternate boys and girls week.

The camp presently is able to host day camps and also host Skateboarding Saturday's.  We hope to be able to re-establish overnight camping and retreats in the future.
